The suspected shooter, a woman, is dead of what officials believe is a self-inflicted gunshot wound. At this point, police do not know if the woman worked at YouTube.
Law enforcement is currently conducting a "methodical, slow search" of the building, Barberini says. All employees have been evacuated and several hundred were taken to a nearby location so police can question them about what they witnessed.

At approximately 4 p.m. ET, San Bruno Police tweeted about "police activity" at 901 Cherry Ave, which is the address of the YouTube offices there. About a half hour later, the department confirmed that they were responding to an active shooter situation.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) San Francisco Field Division also tweeted that it is responding to the situation at YouTube.
At 4:30 p.m. ET, Google tweeted that it's coordinating with authorities and promised details as they become available.

On Twitter, employees inside YouTube headquarters posted about being locked in rooms and being evacuated. Local news showed footage of fleeing workers being frisked by police as they exited the building.
Vadim Lavrusik, who works in product management at YouTube, tweetedthat he "Heard shots and saw people running while at my desk." After being "barricaded inside a room with coworkers," he was able to safely evacuate.
YouTube's San Bruno offices are about 25 miles north of Google's Mountain View headquarters.
